Approach to Evaluation

In undertaking an evaluation our aim is always to encourage and support individuals and organisations to identify and make the most of the learning opportunities available to them.

The approach taken to evaluation is focussed on answering the following questions:

  • Did they do what they said they would do?
  • What worked well and what didn't work?
  • What difference did their work make?
  • What could they do differently?
  • What have they learnt?
  • How can they use what they have learnt to improve future quality and practice?

In considering whether they did what they said they would do and what difference they made, both process (the way things are done, styles, behaviours and practices) and outcome (changes, goals, impact) indicators will be addressed.

Where areas for development are identified clear recommendations for future development will be included along with suggestions about how these could be addressed.

An integral part of the evaluations undertaken is to support the organisation to consider how to develop a framework for internal evaluation.
